In addition to teaching weekly classes, Shelley is a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP®) who leads trainings for yoga teachers wanting to feel more confident in their teaching. Potential training topics listed below.

Teacher Tune Up: Teaching the Pregnant Student
(eligible for CE contact hours)
Do you feel properly prepared to teach the pregnant student? Have you found yourself nervous or unsure how to guide a pregnant person in class? Do you want to learn more about honoring the needs of pregnant students while maintaining the flow of an open-level class?
This training will equip participants with knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the pregnant body, specific needs of the pregnant student in an asana class, modifications or substitutions for common poses including vinyasa transitions, and the benefits of yoga during pregnancy. In addition to lecture and conversation, Shelley AJ Jones, mama of two, Ph.D., E-RYT 500, RPYT, and YACEP, will lead you through a prenatal-appropriate class so as to embody the teachings. Most importantly, participants will leave with a sense of confidence in their ability to support the prenatal student in class.
This training is designed for those who have graduated from or are currently attending yoga teacher training and provides continuing education hours for Yoga Alliance® Registered Teachers.

Teacher Tune Up: Making Themes Meaningful
(eligible for CE contact hours)
Want to create meaningful and memorable themes for your classes that leave both you and your students inspired?
Join Shelley AJ Jones, Ph.D., E-RYT 500, RPYT, and YACEP, for a training that will provide practical tools for generating themes (even when you feel uninspired) and weaving those themes throughout class. As a literature professor and experienced yoga teacher, Shelley is in a unique position to guide participants through both an academic and experiential understanding of how themes create meaning on and off the mat. Participants will leave with a bank of possible themes, a template for creating and weaving themes throughout class, and, perhaps most importantly, an understanding of why theming creates meaningful experiences for both students and teachers.
This training is designed for those who have graduated from or are currently attending yoga teacher training and provides continuing education hours for Yoga Alliance® Registered Teachers.
Other potential topics include: Teaching Brand-New Beginners, Addressing the Postnatal Student, Meditation 101, and Basics of Ayurveda. Trainings can be modified to fit 2-6 hours.
